Obituary of Theodore W. Grimes

(Albion)  Theodore “Teddy” Grimes age 86 died April 26, 2019 surrounded by his family at the Martin Linsin Hospice Residence. He was born December 28, 1932 in Waterport, a son of the late William and Margaret (Wooster) Grimes and had lived in this area all of his life.

Teddy graduated from Lyndonville High School in 1952.  He had served in the US Army at the end of the Korean War.  Teddy worked as a mechanic with his brother Gordy Grimes at Grimes Atlantic in Albion and after went to work as a machinist at Lapp Insulators in LeRoy where he retired.  He had a love for music and enjoyed playing the harmonica, dancing, listening to Jazz and the Blues but most of all he loved going to all his families band practices and shows. He had a quest for knowledge and was always trying to learn and keep up with current events.  Teddy loved gardening and planting sunflowers, watching westerns and the Buffalo bills, working on cars and going to steam shows.  Family was most important to him, especially his grandchildren; he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and could always be found at any of his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Teddy is survived by his wife of 61 years Joanne whom he married on September 27, 1957; his children Teresa (Rocco Caporicci) Grimes, Theodore V. Grimes, Thomas (Holly) Grimes, Todd M. (Sue Fugate) Grimes, Tracy (Joel) Gilbert; grandchildren Mitchell, Sonya, Amanda, Marisa, Amber, Theo, Jessica, Spencer, Adam, Joel, Matthew; great-grandchildren Amari, Carter, Gavin, Drew, Sophia, Grayson, Lexie, Weston, Owen, Todd, Bryson, Payton, Harper, Mackenzie, Claire as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings Mildred (Eddy) Southcott, Gordon (Cleo) Grimes, Don (Elsie) Grimes, Alice (Harry) Bropst, twin sisters Jean (Frank) Marek, Joyce (Albert) Peruzzini, Dorothy (Dick) Merrill, Geraldine (Donald) Dillon.

There are no prior calling hours.  His Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday April 30th at 10:00am at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans, PO Box 489, Albion NY 14411.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc.
